Looking
Closely at Insects!
Description:
This workshop provides the opportunity for children to gain experience
in the fundamentals of drawing, composition and painting, using
charcoal, pencils, pastels, and tempura paint. Children will draw
upon their own knowledge and class resources to create both realistic
and fantastic insect art in this in-depth, eight-week class. A $40
materials fee is due to instructor on the first day of class.

Holiday
Fun with Clay
Learn
some clay crafting skills while producing original pieces of art in this
fun and creative class, just in time for the holidays! Come make
your favorite Christmas characters out of clay, for example Rudolph the
Red-Nosed Reindeer or Frosty the Snowman! The last day of class,
we will wrap them and have a pizza party. Children should bring a
picture of the character they would like to create. *A $35
materials fee is due to the instructor on the first day of class.

Spanish
Language
Learn
to speak Spanish while having fun, learning key phrases, and how to ask
and answer basic questions. Science and art projects may be used to
introduce students to new vocabulary. Sessions are designed as building
blocks for continued learning. Prior Spanish not required.
Instructors: Carlos Millan and Monica Galvan, of Santa Cruz Spanish,
teach Spanish to all ages. Carlos teaches at Gavilan College Community
Education and has a Masters in Education from SJSU. For more information

Chorus
In
this creative and fun musical class, students will learn new songs and
explore rhythms and percussion instruments, while building confidence
and vocal skills. We’ll dabble in creative movement, ASL (sign
language) and beginning songwriting. Following the last class,
students will share what they’ve learned in an informal performance
for local elders (date & time to be chosen by consensus of
participating families). *A $3.00 materials fee is due to the
instructor at the first class meeting. Instructor: Freesia Raine
worked for County Parks for over 20 years, primarily as the founder and
coordinator of the Kreative Kids program. She has led many classes
in percussion, singing and songwriting with pre-K through elementary
ages, as well as after-school classes in cooking and art.

Winter Holiday Chorus
This
fun music class will celebrate the secular holiday music of wintertime.
Students will continue to play with rhythms and percussion instruments
and learn old and modern songs of the winter season. Students will
perform an uplifting performance for local elders (date and time chosen
by consensus of participating families.) *A $3.00 materials fee is

High
School Musical Dance Camp
Learn
several styles of dance, including jazz and hip-hop, to the beats of
your favorite songs from all three High School Musicals. This
high-energy class includes choreography, arts and crafts, karaoke and
much more. Family and friends can see all that we've learned in our very
own song and dance performance held on the last day of camp.
Instructor: Ashley Rutherford has trained in many different styles
of dance including jazz, tap, lyrical, modern and ballet. She has
performed with several dance companies and has competed both locally and
nationally. She currently teaches and choreographs throughout the
bay area.
