Art Attack Award
The Santa Cruz County Arts Commission awarded Kirby Scudder the Commission's first Art Attack Award for his Night Lights Project that was held on September 21, 2006 along West Cliff Drive. Arts Commission Chair Melinda Rambo said, "Kirby Scudder's Night Lights Project was spectacular and deserves to receive the first Art Attack Award. It is the Santa Cruz County Arts Commissions' hope and desire that the Art Attack Award will stimulate artists in our community to produce these kinds of projects".
The Art Attack Award celebrates the act of spontaneous art and/or semi-spontaneous art. The award is presented for striking and or unusual art that enhances the Santa Cruz Community.
Criteria for presenting an Art Attack Award include that the art must be neutral, have no religious or political subjects, contain no nudity or violent themes and must be seen and nominated by at least 3 County Art Commissioners, be a non commercial venture, be photo documented, be a legal activity and visible to the public on either public or private property.
