Becky Gomoll

Becky began swimming at age 4 and continued learning strokes, dives, and water safety until she was old enough to become a life guard and swim instructor, and eventually a pool director. She has taught for 13 summers at summer camp and community pools. She loves to see swimmers conquer their fear of water and begin to really swim. She has taken students from entry level to proficient swimmer; the reward for both student and teacher is a bond and friendship that continues today. Becky is also a certified elementary teacher which gives her insight into working with children and parents alike. You can find Becky keeping up her own swimming skills here during adult lap swim.

Matt Nauman

Matt has been a "water bug" for as long as his parents can remember. From frequent vacations at oceans and lakes (Matt grew up in Wisconsin), to competitive swim team from ages 5-22 through a local club, high school, and UCSC's NCAA team, to his current jobs as a JG  instructor, a lifeguard and EMT for CA State Parks, an assistant swim coach for Cabrillo Threshers swim club, and an assistant coach for UCSC's NCAA Division III swim team, Matt has spent as much time as possible in the water.

In addition to having a passion for the water, Matt has a passion for teaching and sharing the experience of swimming with others! He first started teaching lessons  in his spare time while a junior in college, and has been doing so for 6 years since.  He has experience working with all ages, goals, and ability levels from coaching water safety and fundamentals for beginning swimmers aged 8 to adult; to stroke analysis and improvement for competition focused swimmers, masters swimmers and triathletes; even surfers looking for some extra fitness and paddle power will benefit!  If your swimmer is under 8 but is already comfortable in the water and/or mature for their age Matt is happy to consider working with them as well. While Matt takes swimming seriously, he also appreciates the value of enjoying the sport and makes a concentrated effort to help students enjoy their time in the water, while helping them learn as much as possible! Matt is available most weeknights from 6pm on so book a lesson and come start towards your goal this week!
